Dimitrios Buhalis was invited to address the XXI National Congress of Hospitality and Tourism in Vilamoura Portugal on the 11th and 12th February 2008.
The congress was organised by the Portuguese Association of Hospitality - Associacao de Hotelaria de Portugal (AHP) and was sponsored by the Turismo de Portugal. The conference was opened by the Portuguese Minister of Economics and Innovation.
I was able to discuss the influence of eLiving on Hospitality and Tourism and to put forward dynamic strategies for hoteliers to manage their resources and properties in order to gain competitiveness. He suggested that they need to develop their electronic presence to take advantage of the emerging Web 2.0 and Travel 2.0 content and to package dynamic experiences. I also had the opportunity to demonstrate the research agenda and the expertise of the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research of Bournemouth University and the iSet project.
